THE GOLDEN WALL
installation 2016
The installation 'The Golden Wall' is part of an exhibition in BOZAR, Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, which concerns how a new generation is reflecting about Europe.

It was made in collaboration with artist Guy Dermul and is firstly an outdoor round table conference with 'the wall' as its subject; the wall Europe has developed in its mind; the walls which it builds on its outer borders. 28 European students with different nationalities and backgrounds were confronted with this extreme opposite outlook. They were asked how they envisage a future European 'Union'.

The conference took place and was recorded outdoor in Subotica, literally on the border between Serbia and Hungary with the constructed wall in the background. The recorded images were presented to the public in a 360° 4-channel video-installation at the exposition in BOZAR and translated the conference into a walkthrough audiovisual experience.

A 4 meters high wall dividing the room, on each side two square screens showing the views of the students. It is up to the audience to decide on which side of the wall they want to focus, or take some distance and watch both views simultaneously.

At the moment the installation is being translated into a short documentary film on DVD for educational use at universtities worldwide.
THE MOON PEOPLE
installation 2017
'The Moon People' is an outdoor installation build in a distant native indian village in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. We travelled with a large cinema screen, a film projector and a bunch of 3D glasses deep into the Amazon jungle. It was the first time the native indians experienced the 3D screening technology.

According to ancestral Yanomami legends the indian tribe was born from the blood of the moon. Today, the elders perform almost daily ceremonial dances to honor that heritage. In collaboration with the elders we held a dialogue with the tribe about their origins and showed them a 3D version of the moon landing by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. They experienced the images as science-fiction. The installation is part of the documentary film 'The Mountain Series'.
JUST
installation 2017
'Just' screened in May 2017 at the 16th-century Renaissance Palace of Margaret of Austria (Court of Savoye), it was part of the City Arts Festival OP.RECHT.MECHELEN and made in collaboration with Arsenaal/Lazarus and Zefiro Torna. The soundtrack for the film was composed by Martin Valcke and performed live during the screening.

For centuries jurisdiction divides what is right from what is wrong. Laws are made to maintain order, and those who seek for chaos will have to appear in front of the blindfolded Lady Justice. We identify her verdict with fairness. The law is the law: it has no feelings. But the contrary is true for justice: it is permeated by emotions. JUST= illustrates this tension in seven scenes. The main characters voor every scene are: religion, power, morality, politics, outcasts, time and the arts. A clash of disciplines will guide you, from elderly people to rappers, from Händel to a documentary film to... And you, dear visitor, will be both witness and cause from all harm.

The project JUST=, initiated by Arsenaal/Lazarus and Zefiro Torna, presents jurisdiction in seven sounds and scenes. One of the scenes was the installation with the soundtrack performed live.
LIFE OF MECHELEN
visuals 2017
The Life of Mechelen is a performance initiated by Arsenaal/Lazarus in which the citizens of Mechelen are given the opportunity to play and share their stories and experiences, accompanied by professional theatermakers. The participants together form a new urban group. They present their story in seven episodes, spread over five years.

For the first performance five background wall projections were made, screened in combination with an audio collage of the participants telling their personal stories during the performance.
visuals 2016
Every second, an hour of video material is uploaded onto YouTube: that amounts to a decade per day. Together we view six billion of these videos every day. We dish out likes and dislikes and enjoy nothing more than offering detailed commentary. Or commentary on commentary, ideally anonymously.

Tristero is now performing a selection of these comments. The countless comments of YouTube videos form the basis for the play LEAVE A COMMENT. During the performance the linked YouTube video is projected live in extreme slow motion on stage behind the performers.
THE SHANTING HOUSE
visuals 2016
'The Shanting House' is an ode to sea shanties; an imaginary museum that transcends time and space. In what way can these shanties still have meaning today? The artist Patrick Corillon, composer Thomas Smetryns and director Dominique Roodthooft are looking into it. They chart the human soul on the basis of objects and music.

Three musical short films are projected on stage in an installation of the imaginary museum.
